Sub-regional Economic Development Services

As part of the Cariboo Regional District’s commitment to community economic development, the CRD has established and administers several economic development services to support economic development activities at a sub-regional level. These services are primarily funded through taxes levied from benefitting properties, based on the assessed residential property values. For many of these services, the CRD has entered into partnership agreements with local organizations, committing funds for the delivery of services which promote economic and community development.

Area ‘D’ Economic Development

The Area ‘D’ Economic Development Service (Bylaw No. 3855) was established in 2003 to encourage and support economic development activities for the benefit of Area D residents. Electoral Area D is the single participant in the service which is funded by means of a tax applied to the residential assessed value of land and improvements within the local service area.

Currently, the delivery strategy for the function is by means of funding contribution to support activities such as community revitalization work in McLeese Lake and facility improvements at the Bull Mountain Ski Area.
