The Agricultural Development Advisory Committee (ADAC), was established in 2018 to be involved in and support projects aimed at promoting public awareness, diversification and growth of the agriculture sector in the Cariboo Regional District. The committee consists of between 5 and 13 members, appointed by resolution of the Cariboo Regional District Board of Directors for a two-year term.
The Committee works in collaboration with related agencies and organizations to further agricultural economic development, address agricultural infrastructure, research and training needs, pursue and develop partnership opportunities, and promote awareness of agriculture's role in the local and regional economy.
Plans and policies impacting agriculture in the region may also be referred to the Agricultural Development Advisory Committee by the Board of Directors, for its consideration and advice.
ADAC has worked with the City of Quesnel and the Ministry of Agriculture on the Small-Scale Food Processing and Innovation Hub initiative, as part of the BC Food Hub Network, and is identifying pathways to implement recommendations developed in the Agricultural Area Plan. In addition, the ADAC is providing guidance to the CRD on various topics including the Agricultural Land Reserve, provincial meat slaughter regulations, regional connectivity, and providing input to the Forest Landscape Plan (FLP) and a Land Management Strategy (LMS) survey.
